COSTA MESA — Sophomore Heather Flores and a strong defense helped the Estancia girls’ soccer team open Orange Coast League play with a 1-0 victory through Calvary Chapel at Jim Scott Stadium Thursday.
GIRLS’ SOCCER The Tiger Lilies an AYSO Region 88 girls’ under-14 squad captured the Region 88 Championships on Dec. 6 to win the top spot in the Glendale region. They then finished fourth in the Area 1C Championships for the San Gabriel Valley on Dec. 20.
AAU BASKETBALL: The South River Shooters the 2009 state champions and national runner-up are holding tryouts for the upcoming AAU season. Boys and girls ages 9 through 15 are eligible. Tryouts will start the first week in March.
